HOpe on a Grand Scale Gala April 8

The North Shore Branch would like to invite you to a fundraising concert “HOpe on a Grand Scale” that takes place at the lovely Kay Meek Theatre in West Vancouver on Saturday, April 8th at 7:00 p.m.

Our branch felt that we wanted to do something for youth in our community.  In our search for a worthy cause, we decided to join with the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation and offered to organize a fundraising concert for the Carlile Youth Concurrent Disorders Unit.   This new youth mental health facility opens in April and is located at The HOpe Centre at Lions Gate Hospital.  This unit will be treating teens ages 13 to 18 with anxiety, depression, substance abuse and other mental challenges.  All proceeds from this event will go towards supporting and expanding a music therapy program for youth at The Carlile Centre.

The concert itself features emcee Grant Lawrence, CBC Radio host and award winning author for his book “Adventures in Solitude” – a very humorous book about growing up during the summers in Desolation Sound.   We are also featuring performances by ProArte dancers, the North Shore Celtic Ensemble, Jeffrey Luo (our entrant to the BC Piano Competition last year) teacher ensembles and student ensembles in all genres of music!

Our evening will include a Silent Auction with some wonderful items such as an annual family pass (4 people) to the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish, a golf package for four at the Big Sky Golf and Country Club in Pemberton, and an overnight stay in the luxurious Metropolitan Hotel in Vancouver which includes valet parking and breakfast at the elegant Diva Restaurant!  We have lots of other interesting items such as jewelry, art, David’s tea gift basket, gift cards, and many other lovely gifts from local merchants!

If you feel this is something you might like to support, please see the attached sponsorship/donor form.   All donations will be given a tax receipt from the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.   Our branch has donated $1,000 as a group and we would welcome any other donations from other branches or anyone that would personally like to contribute.   Of course, we hope we will see many of you at what promises to be a very fun event!   Please join us!  Tickets are available at Kay Meek Centre http://kaymeekcentre.com/on_stage/2017-04.
