This popular and well attended recital celebrates Canadian composers as well as our own student composers! A Canadian composer is commissioned to write pieces for our students (usually piano or piano/string ensemble) and these are performed at the recital along with other Canadian composers' works.
Our guest composer usually gives a workshop to the students/teachers regarding their compositions or composing in general. This recital takes place in November, the week of St. Cecilia's Day, when music schools all over Canada are celebrating Canada Music Week.
